China Offshore Engineering Summit 2009, following our previous success shipbuilding summit, was our first large offshore oil & gas engineering conference focusing on the industry trend and most concerned industrial topics.

The event was organized by Merisis Consulting Co. Ltd, endorsed by International Marine Contractors Association (IMCA), which was held on 19th to 20th February in Shanghai, China.

Nearly 150 engineering, academic, management and financing people from offshore contractors, offshore service providers, oil E & P companies, classification societies, shipyards, solution providers, FPSO manufacturers, OSV manufacturers, researches and academic organizations worldwide attended the 2 days conference with the presentations and panel discussions covering the industry trend, market observation, project management, design and construction technology, classification and financing & investment, etc. Moreover, the 3rd day Site Tour at Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding was arranged, which was quite useful for all participants to get deep involved in acknowledging China local offshore engineering technology and current status.

The Summit was an excellent opportunity to learn about the offshore business in China, and more broadly, in the Asia region. The speakers were first rate, and the participants represented an outstanding cross section of Chinese offshore manufacturing, financing, and service industries. It was a great opportunity to learn about offshore in China and meet leading professionals from the industry.

The China Offshore Engineering Summit 2009 was one of the best conferences for including a wide range of relevant topics that are impacting the Offshore Industry today, and also provided a good platform for discussion as to future trends in the offshore industry.
